Intro

For a camping experience that blends lake views, mountain vistas, hiking trails and water sports Ruedi is a top-of-mind choice. Located an hours’ drive from Aspen in the White River National Forest, Ruedi Reservoir offers campers 26 campsites available to tents and RVs less than 32 feet in the Mollie B. Family Campground.

What Makes It Great

Renowned for its fly fishing, Fryingpan River flows below Ruedi Dam. In an area called the “toilet bowl,” large rainbow, brown, cutthroat and brook trout are abundant. The fish feed on stocked mysis shrimp. The stretch is designated as Gold Medal Waters by the Colorado Wildlife Commission and certain regulations apply.

A 14-day stay limit applies to this site and reservations are accepted. Water is piped to the campground and sites are equipped with picnic tables and campfire rings. Sites at this campground open up to gorgeous views of Ruedi Reservoir and starry nighttime skies.

A boat ramp is available for use at this campground.

Who is Going to Love It

Besides fisherman, for hikers and bikers, the eight-mile Ruedi Trail, located north of the reservoir, climbs 3,000 feet to the top of Red Table Mountain. The trailhead is located near the boat ramp and parking lot.

Directions, Parking, & Regulations

From Basalt, travel 16 miles east up the Fryingpan River Road, County Rd 104. About one mile past the Ruedi Reservoir dam, turn right into Little Maud, Little Mattie, Mollie B campgrounds and the Boat Ramp and Picnic Ground.

Special regulations in this area include fishing only with artificial flies and lures, and releasing all trout except brown trout, with a limit of two fish over 14 inches.
