If the transcendental combination of history and hiking gets your stomach rumbling, you'll most likely want a snack after your outdoor adventures.  If you are a historophile, or simply looking to get in a good hike while learning a bit more about Georgia's rich and involved Civil War past, Kennesaw Mountain Battlefield and National Park is just the place to wet your palate.  Covering over 3,000 acres and rising to a peak of 1,808 feet, Kennesaw Mountain offers wonderful views of Atlanta and plenty of wooded land to explore.
What makes visiting this must-see historic landmark even better is that you now have the opportunity to enjoy none other than the local breakfast/lunch institution known as Mountain Biscuits. This gas station-turned cafe offers a quick and easy breakfast pre- or post hike. With outdoor covered seating for picnic tables, you don't have to worry about coming fresh off the trails. It's a taste of an Appalachian Trail pitstop in North Atlanta.
Worlds away from the hardtack issued to soldiers during the Civil War, Mountain Biscuits offers a wide range of melt-in-your-mouth breakfast biscuits (all delicious in their own rite) as well as an assortment of other breakfast and lunch items that could all hold their weight in a fight for your taste buds. From chicken sausages, steak and eggs biscuits, bacon and cheese biscuits or hash brown biscuits, possibilities to carbo-load are endless. If you really want a truly savory experience,  opt for the fried cinnamon roll.  Mountain Biscuits puts a southern spin on this sweet treat and it is more than enough to split between a few hungry hikers!  No matter what you settle on, your stomach will certainly be thankful after you clean your plate at this delicious little diner.
