Within the past decade or so, the craft beer scene all throughout the United States has experienced unprecedented growth.  Microbreweries have popped up in all corners of the nation and these breweries are indicative of the culture and lifestyle of their unique cities.  Sweetwater Brewery is a fine example of this phenomenon. Established in 1997 and named after Sweetwater Creek State Park, Sweetwater Brewery got a head start on the "micro-brewsplosion", and they've used their 18 years of experience to craft their beers to coincide with the chill southern vibe of our ever-active city.  The brewery was founded under the mantra, "Don't Float The Mainstream", and since their inception, they have lived up to that philosophy. The brewery has grown and adapted to what the people of Atlanta have come to expect of them: great beer and great times with great people. Sweetwater pint nights have become a staple of the Atlanta social scene.  Open Wednesday thru Friday from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m., twenty minute tours of the brewery are available, live music is a common occurrence and dogs are always welcome to join in the fun! $10 will set you up with a custom pint glass and a slew of sample tickets, or try the beers for free by opting for the disposable taste cup. With warmer weather just around the corner, you can now enjoy Sweetwater's classic IPA, Take Two Pils and local favorite 420 in the can - making it ideal for float trips, fishing trips, camping trips or tailgates. Sweetwater's annual 420fest is a can't miss music/beer festival that always supplies the funkiest of tunes, local art and all your favorite Sweetwater brews.  Being held this year April 17-19 in Centennial Olympic Park, be sure to also check out the 420fest 5k on April 18 at 8:30 am.  Beer will be available immediately for all runners at the post-race party.  Register here for this USATF certified Peachtree Road Race qualifier.
