About
Summary
The Pigeon Hill Loop is a very strenuous and tricky run, and is recommended for more experienced trail runners only, due to steep inclines, drop offs and incredibly rocky terrain. This trail is part of the Kennesaw Mountain National Battlefield Park, but is a good 5.4 trek from the visitor center. It is a great place to push your limits, providing a very formidable workout for those who are up for the challenge. Less experienced trail runners may want to walk the trail a few times before attempting to run it to avoid injury. Due to the dangerousness of this trail, use of the buddy system is highly advised.

Intro
The Pigeon Hill Loop is a great trail to challenge yourself, and to prepare for a trail marathon, as most of the path requires very precise footwork, and a high awareness of your surroundings. Due to the difficulty level, this trail is not extremely highly trafficked, a huge advantage for anyone looking to push their limits as far as they can go.
What Makes It Great
This loop is part of the Kennesaw Mountain National Battlefield Park, but be advised that it runs close to the base of the mountain, and does not offer the picturesque, panoramic views that many of the other trails in the area do. Despite this fact, there is a good amount of elevation change, both gradual and steep, so be prepared for an intense workout! Be mindful of the many rocks, roots and steep drop offs that are bound to cause injury if not accounted for. Regardless of the fact that you don't get the panoramic views you would have from the top of the mountain, this trail is very scenic.
The trail is very heavily wooded; the lack of people and audible road traffic combined with the lovely views makes this track very peaceful; a good place to come and clear your head before or after a long day. You can always spot tons of wildlife, ranging from songbirds, deer (in the early morning or evening), and even horses, as there are several farms nearby, and locals come to the Pigeon Hill Loop to ride. Because of this, be wary of horse droppings! There are a number of creeks you will cross over on this run, and most have great stepping stones, so no worries about getting your shoes wet.
