Review

The Barton Creek Farmers Market has been ranked as one of the Top 10 in the country, and even endorsed by Wolfgang Puck. The local foods and drinks are almost all stellar, and the live music really helps set the scene for an authentic, wholesome farmers market. As with most farmers markets, it’s not really cheap, but in terms of top-quality selection, health, and food-chain sustainability, you can’t get much better. Vendors offer everything from local artisan cheese (including raw cheeses and non-homogenized milk), grass-fed meats, gluten-free baked goods, and many gourmet and international foods. Go here after your outdoor excursions, especially if you’re around the Barton Creek Greenbelt, to pick up either already-prepared food or gourmet materials for your own creation.

It’s open weekends, rain or shine, and has two locations: near Barton Creek Mall and on South Lamar (both on the southern end of town). The Barton Creek Mall location is open Saturdays 9am-1pm and the South Lamar location is open Sundays 11am-3pm. Be sure to visit their website to check what's in season when you’re in town.
