Its name in English couldn’t be more appropriate, “House of Light.” The food at Casa de Luz really does make you feel brighter. This non-profit eatery is definitely one of those places you just have to visit when in Austin if you’re into super-clean, healthy plant-based food. Specializing in macrobiotic vegan nutrition and taking the utmost care in providing patrons with one of the most health-conscious dining experiences possible, this place has health wired. All its water is fluoride-filtered. All its meals are gluten-free, and allergen-aware. They don’t use oils for things like salad dressing – they grind their own nuts and make everything themselves.

But it’s not just about the food. Casa de Luz also serves the community as an educational center, a place for kids to play, a quiet spot of property for anyone who needs relaxation, and a think-tank for alternative, healthier ways of living. (Read their vision to get a better idea of where they’re coming from.)

If you’re looking for one of the healthiest eateries in Austin, Casa de Luz is it. And if you’re just looking for a place to refuel after a long ride, hike, run, or paddle, Casa de Luz will give you a recharge and brighten your day.
