Check out Muleshoe Bend for a good, intermediate mountain bike trail that's perfect for a quick loop or an extended session. The main loop is about 7 miles of hardpack dirt and rock singletrack, with some sandy sections for good measure.
What Makes It Great
There are also a few extra miles of side trails that will get you to about 10 miles total. Muleshoe Bend is shady, so it's a smart choice on hot, sunny days. The corners tend to be dry and loose, so don't wash out and wind up in the brush: Snake sightings are rare but possible. There's a $5-per-rider day use fee, and the recreation area is right on Lake Travis -- perfect for a post-ride dip to cool down!
Who is Going to Love It
Intermediates will find the trail a good match for their skills while experts will have a good time hammering the trail -- it's not all that technical. Stronger riders will have no problem fitting in two loops here.
