Church Street Coffee and Books offers much more than just delicious coffee. It has a cozy, comfy atmosphere where you can lounge for hours without feeling like you've overstayed your welcome, because the staff are so friendly and welcoming.
Located in Crestline Village, Church Street Coffee and Books is a quaint little café with benefits: in addition to great drinks, it sells books from a collection of popular reads and literary classics. The café offers a small but comfy sitting room where you can enjoy a coffee with one of their handmade pastries and sit down for hours reading, writing, or eavesdropping on two dudes debating which month marks the end of seersucker season.
The proprietors pride themselves on making their own muffins, scones, and quiche in-house and have several items for folks looking for a gluten-free option.
What Makes it GreatThis is the kind of café where the barista greets regulars by name and, with a knowing nod, has their drink ready before they reach the front of the line. Change is handed out with a friendly inquiry into the well being of family and friends, and often a small crowd will mingle at the counter laughing and telling stories. The fresh-baked pastries are named for your needs, such as the soft, chewy chocolate chip Breakup Cookie (which have gained a little local fame) or Treehuggers, which is a “cookie/granola hybrid” that has yummy oats and a variety of seeds. With all the muffins, scones, cakes and breads to choose from, you’ll find it hard to choose just one menu item. This vegan-friendly café also serves Octane Coffee, a local roaster. If you prefer the pour-over method of coffee brewing, Church Street would be happy to accommodate. If you’re in need of a unique gift, there are plenty of options with a vintage or hand-made style that is sure to please the lucky recipient. Grab a bottle of local honey to help with the allergies, and make sure you peruse the many incredible titles that fill the shelves and beg to be read.
Who is Going to Love ItIf you’re looking for a peaceful reading nook, grab a book and head upstairs where Church Street has additional seating in a small, quiet and less frequented attic space. Hipsters, self-proclaimed nerds, outdoors lovers, environmentalists, academics, business professionals, and more will love both the atmosphere and personality of the café, and will find privacy and ease of concentration with the courteous, laid-back staff and more than enough tables to accommodate a workspace. Friends will love having a place for intimate conversation and a sweet place to hangout.
