This lollipop route rides along Hill Road with very minimal decline in elevation for a high RPM ride to nearby Eagle, looping back around for a slight climb back to the start.
This longer stretch of road takes riders all the way to neighboring city, Eagle, on a lollipop loop route below the watchful gaze of the foothills. Heading out of Camel’s Back Park, ride up 13th St and continue on as it becomes Hill Road.
What Makes It Great
Along Hill Road, the elevation fluctuates minimally, dropping about 250’ in the first 7 miles before gaining them back again. This steady roller grade allows riders to kick it up and set pace at a higher RPM than on grinding, big hill climb rides. Follow Hill Rd where it makes a sharp right turn, and continue along Hill past Seaman’s Gulch.
The pitch begins to incline here gaining those 250’ again. Take a right at North Horseshoe Bend Road just before Highway 55, and head north, turning left at East Beacon Light Road. Use caution when crossing Highway 55. Head left on Eagle Road and left on Floating Feather Road, crossing Highway 55 and returning the way you came along North Horseshoe Bend Road.
The route rolls back to Camel’s Back with a last stretched-out climb to regain your starting elevation over the last 5.5 miles.
Ride on a Thursday and stop in at Parilla Grill in Hyde Park, just a few blocks south of Camel’s Back. On Thursdays, they offer a great deal on tacos and Tecates to satiate you hunger and quench your thirst.
