Tucked into a discreet shopping corner in the North End, Cloud 9 Brewery's opening day was anything but quiet. The brewery opened their doors on St. Patrick’s Day 2014 to a very welcoming clientele and, due to the number of growlers they filled for customers, quickly sold through their first kegs of beer.
Idaho’s only certified organic brewery and the city’s only nano-pub, Cloud 9 is designed around a unique business model. Operating with very small-scale production, they brew only 4 barrels of beer at a time and, as one of their bartenders commented, if you have a 12’x12’ bedroom you would have space to brew the same quantity of beverage too. They brew 12 taps total throughout the year and rotate current selections as soon as the last drop is poured. But logistics aside and most importantly, their beers are satisfying, delicious and interesting. Due to their opening flood of customers and unexpectedly fast sell-out of beer, they now offer a handful of guest taps from other local breweries. Whether you like a super hoppy IPA or a smooth, classic wheat, there is something for every palate.
In addition to their beer, Cloud 9’s kitchen offers a delicious, rotating menu created from locally sourced ingredients. Luckily, their amazing blue cheese fries are a standard and don’t rotate off the menu. Pair a beer with these fries for a perfect recovery meal after a long ride or hike.
