Weir Hill

Weir (“Wire”) Hill rises above Lake Cochichewick and promises views of Mount Wachusett and Mount Monadnock on a clear day. With four miles of trails ranging from easy to moderate, visitors can tailor their snowshoe trek to suit their needs. Climb the spine of the hill for for a broad panorama or skirt the shore of the beautiful two mile long lake.

What Makes It Great

When you are itching to get out on the trails and enjoy fresh snow, Weir Hill Reservation is an inviting escape. The Reservation is easy to access, and the variety of trail lengths give visitors flexibility in the length and difficulty of the trek. Pop by for a quiet morning jaunt or a quick post-work snowshoe. Take the kids out for a snowshoe adventure and let them explore the landscape.

From the parking area, take the 3/4 mile Edgewood Farm Trail to reach Lake Cochichewick. From there, meander along the shoreline for gorgeous views of the lake. Be cautious in the winter, as these trails get icy.

Alternately, for a loop with sweeping views and a moderate hill to get your heart pumping, take Stevens Trail up the spine of Weir Hill and keep your eyes open for a westward panorama of Mount Wachusett and Mount Monadnock.

At the crest of the hill, circle back around to the Weir Hill Trail towards the parking area or continue onward for a longer workout and a visit to the lake.

Though a fantastic spot for playing in the powder, Weir Hill is open year round and  promises hiking, running, and mountain biking for all seasons of outdoor enthusiasts. Take a dip in the summer or pack a family picnic on a breezy fall day.
