It doesn't have to be Memorial Day for you to run this classic route with a few modifications. You will have to take to the sidewalks instead of having the whole road closed off. The cops won't be directing traffic to stop for you and you'll also have to finish your run before the CU Stadium. Even with the changes, you can at least say you ran the famous BolderBoulder route.
What Makes It Great
Besides running one of America's classic 10k courses, this route is a fun tour of Boulder. The neighborhoods that make up the bulk of the route are on quiet roads and there are sidewalks for most of the run. For those getting ready to run the Bolder Boulder, this preview gives you an idea of how to pace yourself before you're joined by 49,999 other runners.
Who is Going to Love It
Those getting ready to rock the Bolder Boulder will appreciate previewing the course. And for locals who happen to live along the course, this makes for a nice loop run.
Directions, Parking, & Regulations
Even with the changes, you can at least say you ran the famous BolderBoulder route. Starting on the corner of 30th and Walnut, head north on 30th. Make a left onto Valmont Road and then make a quick left onto 28th. Follow 28th all the way down to Pine and hang a right. From Pine, you will make a right onto Folsom St. At about mile two you will make a left onto Glenwood Dr (a bit of course modification here). Take Glenwood to 19th and make a left. Make a right onto Balsam. Take a quick right onto 18th and then a quick left onto Cedar Ave. After Cedar, you will turn left onto 13th St and will hit mile 4 on your watch. A left onto Spruce, a quick right onto 15th St and left onto Pearl are the next three turns. Once on Pearl, make a right onto 20th St and then a fast left onto to Walnut. Make a right onto Folsom and make your way home to the finish line at CU Stadium. Congrats you just finished a Boulder classic!
