Review
The Nose is a four pitch route on Looking Glass Rock in Pisgah National Forest. It is often one of the most climbed routes, as the "eyebrows" in the rock make for great holds. There are four pitches on the route
Pitch 1: Climb low angled ground past numerous eyebrows to a ledge. 5.5, 90'
Pitch 2: Climb up to and then along the right angling ramp that is obvious from a distance. 5.8, 100'
Pitch 3: From the belay climb straight up the slab. Crux is early on. 5.8, 100'
Pitch 4: Climb straight up from the belay or alternately traverse left onto easier slab. This route is winding and requires a lot more rope, but is significantly easier than the direct version
From town, take the main entrance into Pisgah, and make your only left turn onto the Fish Hatchery road, go past the hatchery on your left, and make a right onto FS 475-B, this will the only gravel turn on your right. Make your way up this road about 15 minutes and you will see the Sunwall trailhead on your right. This is the approach trail, once you reach the end of the approach trail, bare slight left and the start of your climb will be just below the pale right angling ramp on the second pitch.
