Don’t kid yourself, you have thought about this ride time and time again. Charleston to Savannah sounds daunting, but the truth is, riders from all over the lowcountry make this trip all the time. Find some time on a weekend, and join the club of those who have quelled the 106 miles of Highway separating two of the greatest cities in the nation. This ride is truly one of the best ways to take in all of the sights of this part of the United States. Riding to Savannah will heighten your senses, and leave you with a deeper appreciation for the lowcountry. Most riders break the trip up in to two 50 plus mile days, stopping in Beaufort, SC, which is the halfway point, give or take a couple of miles. My suggestion is that you bring one or two friends along for the ride to have someone to talk to, as well as celebrate with when you finish. This is the perfect way to start long distance cycling, considering the lack of elevation change. Prove to yourself that you have what it takes to beat the “Lowcountry Ride.”
