Poe's Tavern

Made possible by

If pages of Edgar Allen Poe's poetry lining the bathroom walls isn't enough to convince you of this tavern's merits, then the beer and burger selection certainly will be.

If you are out on Sullivan's Island after a day of being outdoors, you will probably be ready to sit down and grub with some delicious food and maybe a cold local beer. Poe’s will satisfy both of those needs with a big selection of local craft brews, and a burger menu so good it will make you want to order everything you see. Poe’s is one of the few restaurants on Sullivan's and is located at the corner of Middle street and Ben Sawyer Boulevard, the road that leads onto the island. Either sit outside on the front porch, or walk right in to the dimly lit, cozy dining room complete with portraits of Edgar Allan Poe from floor to ceiling, on every wall. E.A. Poe is the inspiration behind all of the items on the menu, and even the bathroom walls are lined with pages from his poetry. I have had great experiences every time I've visited Poe’s, and it's easy to see why this is a favorite hangout among the locals.
