I found this wonderful place one day while delivering vegetables to local restaurants from our farm. The head chef offered me a tour, and I was taken aback by how much it reminded me of an old market, the way it felt walking through the door. With provisions lining the walls and the freshness of the ingredients used by the Grocery, you get the sensation of eating out in the country without having to leave downtown Charleston. The Grocery offers superb seafood dishes, as well as lowcountry meals made from local greens and meats. Stop in after a run for some brunch or dinner, and you will probably end up staying longer than you planned, having to taste everything on the menu. Adding to the warm atmosphere of this restaurant is the fact that it used to be a former furniture warehouse, making this culinary experience all the better.
