Whether you’re with a group of buddies after a long day of fishing on Sullivan's Island, or with your family coming back from a bike ride, The Shelter delivers the perfect environment to kick back, relax, and refill your tank with hearty southern food. Walk up the stairs to the front porch and take a seat at the bar, or grab a table in the open dining area and treat yourself to the best soul food around. The owners of this restaurant wanted to establish a friendly neighborhood spot that also happens to make excellent food, and that is exactly what they've done. The Shelter is also known for its seasonal drink menu, stocked with local beer that fits the weather outside. Being able to stay all day and hang out on the porch with your friends and family is what differentiates The Shelter from everywhere else, and it is in a great location in between Sullivan's and downtown Charleston. Word of advice: don’t take on the fried chicken and waffles before a lengthy run, save it for after, you’ll be glad you did.
