Review

The Killer 3 Loop Trail is within Poinsett State Park in Wedgefield, SC, about 2 hours away from Charleston. If you are tired of riding Marrington Plantation or Wannamaker North in Charleston, you need to consider making the short drive up to Wedgefield to give this trail a ride. This is not considered a difficult trail, but the opportunities are there for you if you want a more technically challenging ride. The 5 mile sandy trail is mostly flat, but there are some climbs that turn out to be a little more difficult than expected, what with the surface material of the trail being sand and pine straw. When you go, make sure to stop by the ranger station to pick up your $5 day pass. Expect a well maintained trail that is fun to ride, and delivers a far better single track surface than you would find on the rootier trails of Charleston. While you are in the area, be sure to ride the Red Loop Trail, and The Knot as well. These are two very similar trails that are both in the vicinity of K3, and give you the chance to lengthen your ride and make the most out of your trip.
