The pier on Folly Beach is another excellent surf location. Waves tend to be less choppy on the Eastern side of the pier, and are much more accommodating to long boards. This spot is a little less crowded than some other places around Charleston, but you will have to deal with fishermen and beach goers, especially during the summer months. The pier is easy to get to, and is perfect for a quick session, as there is a beach access point right beside the pier. Make sure and check local surf reports before going out, and try to avoid this spot during any festivals Folly may be having, since they typically reserve this portion of the beach for them.
