The Peach Stand in Fort Mill SC is a bit of an anomaly. The name makes you think summertime fruit stand. From the outside it looks like a fancy gas station. But what’s inside makes it a perfect place to stop and pick up all kinds of post run or bike fuel.
There is a small restaurant inside that serves basic deli sandwiches, burgers, hot dogs, etc. but the real magic is in the shop. There’s a full meat counter with real live butchers ready to cut your steak to order. They offer nontraditional items like bison and have several seafood selections as well.
Look in the freezer near the restaurant entrance and you’ll see all sorts of home made pastas (including stuffed ravioli) ready for you to prepare. The few small aisles in the store are packed with a multitude of locally sourced gourmet sauces, dips and the like. There’s a small produce section whose fruits and veg actually look like real food (not waxed and shinned). Of course, since you've just worked off a bunch of calories you should consider picking up one of the locally made baked goods like a giant apple pie or get a scoop of hand dipped ice cream from the counter in the back. They do sell a small selection of beer but have better wine options.
Of course, as the name suggests, each summer you can get some amazing South Carolina peaches here. In fact, you’ll see the peach trees line the road up as you pass the store.
The Peach Stand is open Mon - Fri 6 am to 9 pm, Sat 8 am to 9 pm, and Sunday from 8 am to 8 pm
