Intro

This 49 mile loop starts downtown, follows the base of Lookout Mountain through Flintstone, Georgia, climbs up Highway 136, rolls across the top of the mountain, then makes a fast descent on Ochs Highway back to Chattanooga.

What Makes It Great

A short ride from downtown takes you through scenic, rolling country roads with low traffic. You'll pass a number of farms and sleepy country homes as you work your way toward the climb up 136. The gas station at the 136 junction is your last chance to stop for food and water. The climb up Lookout is a steady grade.

Once on top of the mountain, Lula Lake Road (Highway 156) starts as a flat to slightly downhill road with rollers that increase as you work your way north toward the nose of Lookout. Don't leave everything on the climb up 136, because the last few rollers pack a punch. The descent down Ochs Highway is fast and fun, but be mindful of the rumble strip down the center of the road.  Near the bottom of the mountain are a couple of sharp turns that you'll want to anticipate.

Who is Going to Love It

Riders who believe you haven't really seen a mountain until you've ridden over it.
