Rustic is the term that applies to the Roosevelt Lodge. Wooden floors, rocking chairs, rock fireplaces and tree trunk beams grace this hotel and dining hall. Family style is the name of the game and you’ll find food that any early day cowboy would recognize, as well as some that he wouldn’t. Apple Smoked Barbecue Ribs, Farm-raised Trout and Bison Burgers will tame the heartiest of appetites, while Wild Game Bolognese and Grilled Lemon Sage Chicken might be a little more exotic for cow punchers. This is meat and potatoes fare with some wild game, vegan and gluten-free options.
Roosevelt Lodge is the only spot for sustenance between Mammoth and Silver Gate, Montana, just past the Northeast Entrance. That means this place is hopping all hours of the day. Reservations are not accepted so try to get there not at prime time for your meal.
If you want an extraordinary dining experience try the Old West Dinner Cookout, complete with horses and covered wagons. Ride in on the wagon or astride your own horse to Yancey’s Hole where the hired hands will prepare a delightful dinner of steaks, beans, potato salad and corn muffins. Since no self-respecting cowboy would go without dessert, save room for the perfect fruit crisp. Campfires and sing-alongs round out the night.
