Situated just half a block off of main street in the historic Whole Foods Trading Company building, the Local has a fiercely loyal following of folks who are looking for exquisitely prepared food that probably was grown by one of their neighbors. Those ingredients that aren’t local (this is Wyoming after all), are as fresh as possible and of impeccable quality.
The Local features burgers, sandwiches and salads as well as a dizzying array of specials, which are definitely not your average meal in this cowboy town. Recent offerings included lobster mac & cheese, grass-fed tenderloin with blue-foot chantrelles and grape leaf wrapped lamb with hummus. Try the mahi-mahi fish tacos for lunch.
The Local is part of the Whole Foods Trading Company which features an all natural grocery section as well as wellness supplies and gifts. This historic building originally housed the Cody Trading Company general store, a nod to the past with decidedly modern sensitivities.
Open Tuesday through Saturday for lunch (11-2) and dinner (5-9), you’ll get high quality food prepared with some extra flair in a lively location. In winter, the Local opens at 8:30 for a limited breakfast featuring Fair Trade organic coffee and house made syrups. Grab a tasty baked good to go while you’re there. Check their Facebook page for summer hours.
