The best thing about mountain biking in Colorado Springs? You really don't have to go far to get into some serious singletrack. There are 61 miles of unpaved trails in town and you will find a rollicking ride right around the grounds of the U.S. Air Force Academy on the 14-mile Falcon Trail Loop or you can race the 12 miles of the Palmer Park Loop, site of the 24 Hours of Colorado Springs, in town. Outside of town you will find classic rides like Captain Jacks. Of course, any true fat-tire addict will want to take on the challenge of Pikes Peak with 7,500 vertical feet of climbing and descent on the Epic Barr Trail. If you are unfamiliar with the area (or even the sport itself), the Colorado Springs Mountain Bike Club heads out on group rides and sponsors events that will help you become a part of the community.
