Bachman Lake

Bachmann Lake is tucked away in a Greenbelt area located directly north of Love Field at the intersection of Highway 12 and Lemmon Ave. This is a very convenient park if you live in the downtown Dallas area. The predominant area of the park includes  a 3.2 mile loop around Lake Bachman. There are outdoor work out stations and playgrounds in this area as well. The other portion of the greenbelt is on the east side of Lemmon Ave next to the neighborhood and is comprised of a wide open wooded area. This part of the park is less populated, and feels more secluded. You can meander along the creek that feeds into the Lake on this side.

What Makes It Great

Bachmann Lake is an oasis in the middle of Dallas north of the Oaklawn and Highland Park areas. The entire area includes a 3.1 mile paved running trail, a children's play ground, outdoor work out equipment, and a heavily wooded open area. The Lake is located on the western side of Lemmon along the green belt. It is scenic and has many different types of birds present. The main parking, playground, restroom facility, and outdoor work out equipment is also located on this side of the park. It is also very well landscaped with trees following the sinuous path along the bank of the river.

There are many great spots to take your family to picnic, play , or take pictures. For runners this is a good place to hit the pavement and knock down some miles that isn't as heavily populated as the Katy or White Rock Lake Trails. The side of the park that lies on the eastern side of Lemmon avenue is more secluded and quiet. This is a great place to go to walk with your dog and get away from the noise that you hear on the western side of the park. While this side does not have pavement trail runners will appreciate the gently sloping nature of the park, and in the summer it is under a canopy of trees.

Who is Going to Love It

Bachman Lake Park is really a park for everyone. There is a lot of open space here for road running and exercising. It is also a great place to let your children run around or run with your stroller. Bikes are also allowed on the paved trail around the park and dogs are allowed on leash. The park is clean and well kept. The best part is that it is not highly populated like most of the other trails in Dallas so there is a lot more room for people to take time to themselves and less noise from people being in close proximity.
