Centrally located Cheesman Park is another one of the great urban running locations in Denver. It’s easy to get to from anywhere in the city and boasts beautiful grounds and great views of the city and surrounding mountains. It also has quite a lot of interesting history.
What Makes It Great
Dirt footpaths and paved sidewalks circumnavigate the park for a perfect 1.5 mile loop. You can do this over and over, enjoying the gentle hills and shading trees. Watch families, frisbee players, dogs, and sun bathers all enjoying this urban respite.
Keep in mind that Cheesman is probably nicer for jogging than it is for cycling. If you're looking for a supplemental workout with this jog, there are places to do dips and pull ups. There are also benches and nice, grassy plots where you can stop and take a rest.
Who is Going to Love It
If you are visiting Denver for business, this is your ideal get-away any time of the day, week or year. After you've spent the afternoon in the park, head east a few blocks to the Denver Botanical Gardens, a perfect spot for a romantic date night.
Directions, Parking, & Regulations
Parking at Cheesman is slightly challenging because it’s located in the Capitol Hill neighborhood off downtown Denver, but it really shouldn’t be too much of a problem as most locals run or walk their dogs to get here. Just shoot up 14th from downtown on the one-way, take a right on Franklin, and you’re right there.
