The Golden Whitewater Park is actually one of the earliest urban whitewater parks implemented about ten years ago to help spread the kayaking gospel, revitalize waterways and help boost local recreation economies. And it worked.
What Makes It Great
This is the ultimate in park-and-play. It’s only minutes from downtown, a straight shot west to the ultra-outdoorsy town of Golden, Colorado. You can pull right up to convenient parking, pull off your boats or SUP boards, and walk up the bike path as far as you want to put in on this lower section of Clear Creek.
You’ll find plenty of other fellow boaters to help show you the sweet spots and must-catch eddies, and to advise you about water levels and varying play features.
If you’re looking for a true whitewater fix, and Confluence Park is either a little too close or a little too brown for your liking, you won’t be disappointed by the Golden whitewater park.
Who is Going to Love It
This is really a spring/summer spot, due to flows, and tubers typically take over after August.
