Located in Harbor on Oregon’s southern coast, Fat Irish Kitchen & Pub offers a modern spin on the traditional Irish bar. Everything about the restaurant from the food to the décor is a perfect combination of old and new. Murals featuring street art and blessings from the old country adorn the walls while Stiff Little Fingers, The Pogues, and The Dubliners play in the background.

The restaurant is just steps from the shops and attractions in the Port of Brookings which is rather convenient as patrons will need to walk around for a bit after drinking a Fat Mary, Fat Irish Kitchen & Pub’s amazing version of a Bloody Mary.

What Makes It Great

Opened in 2016, Fat Irish Kitchen & Pub is unexpectedly contemporary but in a good way. A cozy patio complete with seating and a fire pit offers a great place to enjoy a drink. The entryway pays homage to bands like U2 and The Pogues by displaying framed album covers.

The decor at Fat Irish Kitchen & Pub is a blend of traditional and modern eclectics. The Irish flag is painted on one wall while logos from the country’s sports team cover another. Gaelic symbols can be seen throughout the pub.

With a state-of-the-art bottoms up brewing system, beer flows quickly to customers at Fat Irish Kitchen & Pub. Humorous (but totally necessary) “Don’t Finger the Cup” warnings are posted around the restaurant as well as at the bottom of the pint glasses. Nine beers including local brews as well as Guinness are available on tap. Patrons can enjoy a drink from the Irish-whiskey based bar. The restaurant’s Fat Mary is a smoky-flavored drink made with Guinness and a heavy dose of Jameson.

The menu at Fat Irish Kitchen & Pub has a variety of traditional Irish and American options. Their savory house-made stew features tender pieces of beef and potatoes served in a fresh bread bowl. Made with slow-roasted corned beef and served on sourdough rye, the Classic Reuben is served with thick-cut chips.

Who is Going to Love It

Warm and inviting, Fat Irish Kitchen & Pub offers a relaxed atmosphere that people of all ages will enjoy. A kid’s menu featuring dishes like macaroni and cheese and nachos is available.
