If you’re looking for a quick, easy ride to get the blood pumping or test out those new clipless pedals, then this is the trail for you. Located off of Lake Mary Road and running parallel to a road of the same name, High Country Trail is a paved route clocking in at less than 2 miles. This trail is low-traffic compared to other trails in the area, and is ideal for beginners or the person who wants a quick ride during their lunch break.

What Makes It Great

High Country Trail is a quick and convenient outdoor activity if you don’t have a lot of time, and is close to several neighborhoods, nearby businesses, and even Coconino Community College or the south campus of Northern Arizona University (taking Lone Tree Rd to Zuni Rd to Lake Mary Rd).

What makes this trail especially great is it intersects with two others trails - Wild West Trail and Ponderosa Trail - so you have the choice to extend your joy ride a couple more miles. Both trail heads are easy to spot along the High Country Trail route. Since the trail is routinely a low traffic route, it's also a great spot to test our your new road bike or take the family on a tandem low-impact ride.

Who is Going to Love It

Anyone who doesn't have the time for longer or more strenuous cycling excursions, but still values outdoor time and exercise will enjoy the trail which can be accessed during most seasons.
