Broad Creek is a large tidal creek that runs through the middle of Hilton Head Island. Some of the island’s most popular restaurants and attractions are situated on Broad Creek due to incredible views and amazing sunsets over the salt water marsh. The creek’s calm waters and grand views also make it a great place to paddleboard. The Marshland Road Boat Landing is a public boat ramp is the perfect place to launch your next paddleboarding excursion.

What Makes it Great When you kayak Broad Creek your views are often obscured by the walls of spartina grass that surround you. On a stand up paddleboard you can rise above the grass and truly take in the magnitude of your surroundings. From your bird’s eye view you will also have an advantage navigating the waterways. Paddleboards can be heavy! With the ability to pull right up the water’s edge and unload your board, getting on the water is a breeze at the Marshland Boat Landing. Don’t worry about getting in the way of boat trailers or motor boats causing wake, due to the landing being so far up Broad Creek many boaters avoid it. You can paddle up the creek to get a one of a kind view of Hilton Head or you can explore one Broad Creek’s many winding arms. There are plenty of calm alcoves to be found where you can rest on your paddleboard and take in nature or, if you’re so inclined, do some SUP yoga.

An added bonus of the Marshland Boat Landing is that it is incredibly easy to keep your bearings, even if you are not familiar with the area. The boat landing is right next to The Old Oyster Factory, a large building with red roofs, which is a visible landmark for miles.

Directions, Trailheads, and Regulations The Marshland Road Boat Landing is located at 97 Marshland. Going north on 278 you will take a left onto Matthews Drive and after about a quarter mile you will hit a small traffic circle, take the second exit for Marshland Road. The boat landing will be about a mile down on your left, and can be easy to miss. If you pass the Old Oyster Factory you’ve gone too far. The landing is open 24/7 but does not allow overnight parking.
