Stop what you’re doing, get in on your vehicle, and drive to Lucky Rooster right now. Every moment spent outside this fine eating establishment is a moment not spent eating their incredible menu items. Chef/owner Clayton Rollison has curated one of the finest southern menus we’ve seen and garnished some of his entrees and appetizers with a little a little European flair.
What Makes It Great
This is the only place on Hilton Head Island you’re going to find Springer Mountain, GA fried chicken smothered in gravy and honey next to Pei Mussels, swimming in spicy thai coconut broth, radish, scallion, sesame seeds, and topped with toast. The menu praises local farmers, changing seasonally depending on what sort of veggies are sprouting around the lowcountry, or whether or not Clayton can source brook trout from the headwaters of North Carolina -- with which he pairs warm smoked, pickled vegetables, sweet onion puree, and mustard seed relish.
Who is Going to Love It
It doesn’t matter what you choose to eat at Lucky Rooster, you’re going to leave satisfied. You’ll be glad knowing that you can always come back to this place, because it’s likely to be around for a very long time. The Lucky Rooster Kitchen and Bar has capitalized on the postmodern, locally sourced restaurant movement, and so far it’s one of the only places on Hilton Head truly doing so. Go here for all things local, including seafood, cold local beverages, and an awesome atmosphere. Have a Moscow Mule with Lucky Rooster’s in-house made ginger beer, and make sure everyone on your team orders something different, you’re going to want to share.
Directions, Parking, & Regulations
This restaurant is located toward the eastern end of the island, just off of William Hilton Parkway. It’s ok to have high expectations for this place, you’re not going to be disappointed. Excellent local food at decent prices is hard to come by these days, but not if you go to Hilton Head island and visit Lucky Rooster.
