Watusi is a great local hangout that specializes in breakfast and lunch dishes. “It is what it is” is there motto, and it’s very fitting. You can’t quite pin this place down as a breakfast spot, coffee shop, smoothie joint, or lounge, because it’s all of those and more. There is comfortable seating inside, almost like hanging around in a stranger’s living room, and there is plenty of space to sit outside on the patio. If you’re looking to get away from your hotel and catch up on some work for a little while, head over to Watusi. The atmosphere is very relaxing, and it’s a great spot to read, eat, and collect your thoughts before heading out for the day’s adventures.

What Makes it Great Fuel up here with an outstanding cup of coffee. Watusi buys only the best coffee beans from Batdorf & Bronson, known for their certified organic, fair trade coffee beans, and a history of sustainable agriculture since 1985. Watusi roasts their beans in-house, and take great care in preparing the best cup of joe on the island. If you’re looking to fill up with something other than caffeine, try one of Watusi’s signature benedicts, scramblers, or breakfast burritos.

Who’s Going to Love It Anyone who likes the sound of the Vegetarian Benedict: two poached eggs, spinach, tomato, and onion over an english muffin and housemade hollandaise sauce. Its good. The lunch menu also boasts a few epic meals, including signature sammies, wraps, and fresh soups and salads. If you’re feeling hungry, go for The Pope Avenue, roasted red peppers, goat cheese, sun dried tomato, grilled chicken, provolone, and balsamic dressing on a fresh baked French baguette. It’s a mouthful to describe, and while you’re eating it.

Directions/Regulations Locals love this place for its homey feel, excellent food, and great atmosphere. Stop in for the food and coffee mentioned above, or grab one of there famous smoothies to get you going. It’s fast, friendly, and if you choose to stay all day, the staff is totally fine with that. This place truly wants to be your neighborhood spot, and they’re doing an awesome job at it already. To get here, Take 278 almost all the way to its end. About a mile past the intersection/roundabout at Greenwood Drive, you’ll see Watusi’s big blue sign on your left.
