Disc golf is the perfect way to spend an easy afternoon outside. The Knoxville area is home to many quality disc golf courses, all free and open to the public any day of the year. Farragut, Tennessee has a fun little disc golf course on the shore of Fort Loudon Lake. The course offers 9 holes that are relatively short, but some are rather technical, with plenty of trees and rocks to navigate across uneven terrain.

What Makes It Great

This is a pretty popular course in a compact area, so holes can get backed up with parties waiting to throw. Be sure to practice proper etiquette. Let the party ahead clear the fairway before you toss, and allow faster parties to pass you and play through. The whole course plays pretty quickly, so you can enjoy multiple rounds in a row, or combine your disc golf game with some of Farragut's additional recreation opportunities.

Who is Going to Love It

Admiral Farragut Park is basically only the disc golf course, but there is also a pavilion where local kids like to hang out and enjoy views over the lake. This is the course to play if you want to tighten up your short-range game.

The adjacent Carl Cowan Park, however, has lots more to offer, including soccer fields, tennis courts, playground, picnic areas, and even a kiddie water park for cooling off on a hot day. Carl Cowan is accessible by short paths through the woods from Admiral Farragut Park, or by driving a bit further west on Northshore Dr.
