Trout Unlimited and the Popo Agie Anglers stock and maintain Lucky Pond in Lander to give kids a place to learn how to fish. The pond has a paved wheelchair path providing access for people with disabilities as well.

Lucky Pond is stocked with trout and blue gill and is perfect for introducing a novice of any age to the sport of fishing. Kids can also catch crawfish in the pond.

To get to Lucky Pond, head toward Riverton on Highway 789. Just past the Wyoming State Training School, turn right on Chittim Road. Follow Chittim until you come to a y-intersection. Turn right again to get to the pond.

One thing to know: There’s not much shade out by Lucky Pond, so it’s best to avoid it during the heat of the day.
