Review

Intro

Rock Garden is a small bouldering site at the base of Mt Baldy. There are a lot of bad landings though, so be sure to bring extra pads to soften your falls. The routes are concentrated just below the summit, so the hike in is long, but the views are amazing and the temperature is cool even during warmer summer months. There can be snow on Mt Baldy at this elevation during the winter months, so be sure to check the weather and dress accordingly.

What Makes It Great

Rock Garden may be a small and easy place to boulder, but the fact that you are close to the summit of Mt Baldy, LA County's highest peak, makes it a day full of adventure. You might as well go ahead and summit Baldy!

Until then, here are some of the routes:

1) Above The Crowds V0

2) Cling to the Present V0

3) Floating Monk V0

4) Zen Steps V1

5) Lazy Days V1

6) Natural Showmanship V1

7) Sippin on Ginseng V2

8) Diogenes Posture V2

9) Socrates Dilemma V3

10) Shaolin Pump V4

Who is Going to Love It

The routes are mostly in the beginner range, and are short with a lot of sit starts, so this makes a good place to introduce a newbie to bouldering.
