The Adam's Pack Station, in the San Gabriel Mountains in So Cal, is one of the only remaining enterprises of its kind. A pack station is an operational base for people transporting their freight via pack animals. Not only does Adam's Pack Station offer this service (and have been since 1936), but they also have an old-timey general store and antique cabins and camps. The Adam's Pack Station, general store, and supported Sturtevant's Camp at Chantry Flats are located in the center of the Big Santa Anita Canyon. Together, they're one of the most popular and historical places in the Angeles National Forest, and definitely worth a visit for a variety of reasons.
The store provides all the things you would want from a camp store: water, trail mix, soft drinks, ice cream, and cold beer. Enjoy these before or after your hike, run, or bike ride. The store also has some camping and hiking supplies, and it's open from 6am to 8pm. In addition, you can also get your Forest Service Adventure Pass here; something that is required to access the nearby US Forest Land trails.
All in all, the Adam's Pack Station is a convenient gateway for many trails and recreation areas such as Mt. Wilson, Sturtevant Falls, Mt. Zion, and many more destinations. Stop by Adam's Pack Station and enjoy a rest at this classic Southern California Forest destination.
