Eaton Canyon Natural Area Park contains 3 family-friendly nature hikes, starting from the nature center. During spring and summer, wildflowers are a common sight near the Eaton Canyon Nature Center. This Center also has interpretive exhibits and free presentations, which are great for the kids because they can learn about the environment in which they are exploring.
What Makes It Great
The terrain of this particular trail is easy, but is a little longer than the other two, clocking in around 3.8-miles long. The 40-foot waterfall is a cool site, but it's the swimmable pool at the end of the trail that is the main attraction. This pool gives the kids a nice place to play and cool off in during the warmer summer months. The trail can get very crowded on these types of days, especially on the weekends, so start early if possible.
Who is Going to Love It
This trail is fairly easy for most people, but there is some boulder hopping, stream crossing, and more rugged terrain along the way to the waterfall, which can be harder for young children, so keep that in mind. Older children will enjoy the boulder hopping and you may find yourself having a harder time getting them off the trail than starting it. The weekdays are not as crowded and make for a more peaceful hike with the family.
