Intro

Runyon Canyon is one of the most popular, fun, and easy hiking and trail running destinations in the Los Angeles area and is world famous for its beautiful views of Hollywood. If you're lucky, you may even see the occasional celebrity or two.

What Makes It Great

There are two main loop trails: a 1.65-mile loop trail with 500 feet of elevation gain, and a 2.65-mile loop trail with 700 feet of elevation gain. Both have breathtaking views of the city, the Hollywood sign, and Griffith Observatory. Runyon Canyon is almost always crowded, so if you want peace and quiet with the family, this park may not be for you. Start in the early morning or late evening during the warmer months to stay cool.

Who is Going to Love It

The trails here are child friendly because they are made of wide dirt paths and fire roads, making them very easy to hike on. The park is dog friendly and has some off-leash areas, which can sometimes add to the congestion of the trails or provide a great place for dog-lovers to take their best friend on a hike. This park is easily accessible and the trails are fairly short, but they can still provide a solid workout for those seeking some physical activity.
