Fryman Canyon Trail, in the Hollywood Hills, provides a nice, less crowded alternative to Runyon Canyon and other inner city Los Angeles trail runs. The route is a short 3-mile loop with almost 500 feet of elevation gain. The trail is primarily on fire roads and it's generally well shaded.
What Makes It Great
The trail conditions are excellent, and it's well marked. There are also several spur trails that lead to high viewpoints of Hollywood nestled down below. This trail provides families a chance to get away from the crowds and enjoy a nice short run. The park is dog friendly, and there is a $1 fee for parking. Fryman can be accessed from West L.A. or Studio City.
Who is Going to Love It
It's a good, quick loop that can be lapped if you want to get more miles in. Because of that, it's a fine place to burn some calories and enjoy a bit of the outdoors not far from the city. Views from the hills are quite impressive and worth a look.
