The Herb Parsons Lake trail offers some of the tighter, twistier, more technical singletrack in the Memphis area. The trails are marked with Red and Blue blazes; the Blue trails meander around and extend your distance. By riding a combo of the Red and Blue trails, one loop will give you about 10 miles. Or, you can stick to a few loops of the Red trails (about 6 miles per loop, one hour each).
Most riders choose to ride counter-clockwise, starting by going over the levee. The trails are easy to follow. At one point, you'll leave the woods and ride on blacktop for about 50 yards. The trail re-entry point is clear. Watch out for poison ivy: Even though the trails are well maintained, the creeping vine is a constant fixture during the warmer, wetter summer months.
