Review

The Piney is a 24-mile long river in Middle Tennessee that is perfect for outdoor recreation. It's one of my personal favorites. The Harpeth is great, because it's so close, but if there is a beautiful Saturday or Sunday, I'm off to Piney. It's about an hour from downtown Nashville, and it provides cold, clear water on a small, lovely river. There are lots of beautiful swimming holes, and it is mostly accessible all year round. I put in at the Piney River Road Bridge and take out at the Walter Nunnelly Bridge. This section also has some good fishing, as it's frequently stocked with trout.
