Review

12 South’s Sevier Park is getting a makeover in 2014. It starts with a new community center, scheduled to open in the summer.

A larger as-of-yet-unfunded master plan will give he renovated park more multi-use trails on which locals can run, bike and walk before heading over to the famous Las Paletas for a Mexican-style Popsicle. The lawn are will have tiers for sitting during live music and other performances and there will be better parking.

But even before all that happens, Sevier Park is a great option for those who live I 12 South, Belmont, Waverly and other surrounding neighborhoods. A farmers’ market and other activities keep a good crowd at the park in the summer, but 20 acres give city residents ample room to roam.
