With more than 950 acres of Greenway, and an adjacent 336 acres in Shelby Park, the Shelby Bottoms Greenway provides Nashville with a beautiful natural venue, just minutes from downtown.
Hikers, runners, bikers, and outdoor enthusiasts of all sorts will enjoy the close to 12 miles of interconnected, multi-use trails along the Cumberland River. There is a 5-mile paved trail and another seven or so of primitive trails. The magnificent pedestrian bridge spans the river just south of the Opryland complex, giving cyclists, walkers and runners access to the Greenway system on the other side of Briley Parkway. This is a commuter's dream for getting from Pennington Bend and Donelson to Inglewood, East Nashville and downtown. You might even get a view of the General Jackson going by.
Different parts of the park and the Greenway have different amenities and attract different outdoorsmen and -women.
