Review

The Mystic River is an approximately 3.4 mile long tidal river that divides the village of Mystic, CT. The east side of the river is the town of Stonington and the west side is Groton. The river empties out onto Long Island Sound and more specifically Fishers Island Sound. For most people the highlight of paddling in the Mystic River is going by Mystic Seaport. The Seaport is a 19th Century whaling village that includes 4 National Historic Landmarks vessels including the Charles W. Morgan that you can paddle by. Paddlers can also go under the Mystic River Drawbridge, made famous in Julia Robert's breakout movie, Mystic Pizza.
