A short drive from Downtown Guilford are a variety of fun, complex trails with great views of marshes and even "Lost Lake," which is hidden about an hour deep in the woods. Always plenty of friendly hikers, trail runners, bikers, and dogs traveling these trails. There's plenty of parking right at the entrance and a map of all the trails which are color coded.
The location is tucked back on the way to Sachem's Head. Look up Sam Hill Road and 146 intersections. Entrance is right at that intersection. A good loop will probably take about an hour maybe a little more. Trails vary and you can connect to different trails if you'd like to extend your hike. There's a small parking spot right when you turn off 146 onto Sam Hill Road. You can also park on the side of the Sam Hill Road. Some trails can be difficult, be prepared and bring some water and a snack as well as good hiking cloths that are durable. I recommend a camera too (especially if you make it back to lost lake).
