While the water craft trips down Coldwater Creek are tranquil, the zip lines can be mentally daunting, and require a mild amount of physical exertion to complete.
Time To Complete
Depending upon your canoe or kayak trip of choice, as well as the speed at which you paddle, trips can take anywhere from 1.5 to 4 hours.
The temperate climate of NWFL makes Adventures Unlimited excursions pleasant year-round.
Dogs are welcome in canoes and in several cabins.
Fees apply to all activities at Adventures Unlimited. Day trip canoes range from $50 to 60, depending upon preference, while SUP boards and kayaks are $45 and $35, respectively. Zip line tours range from $89 to $129.
Northwest Florida is home to towering pine forests and some of the most pristine waterways in the continental U.S., and Adventures Unlimited in Milton, Florida takes advantage of both. Located in the thick of the wilderness surrounding the Blackwater River, Adventures Unlimited offers canoeing, kayaking, paddleboarding, tubing, camping, zip lines tours, and more. Spend a weekend in a rustic cabin or furnished cottage, sampling adventures at your leisure, book a corporate team-building getaway, or grab and friend and start early to make the most of a day with packages that couple experiences to your liking.
What Makes It Great
Adventures Unlimited offers numerous outdoor activities without the gimmicky feel of a tourist trap. Guides and other employees are local and knowledgeable about the land Adventures utilizes, and are pros at making guests feel comfortable on more daunting excursions, like the zip lines. Several of the lodgings are pet-friendly, as well as the canoes: bring your furry best friend and spend a few hours or the entire afternoon coasting along Coldwater Creek. Adult beverages are allowed in limited supply in coolers, so it’s acceptable (and recommendable!) to crack open a cold one while floating downriver.
While the zip line tours don’t offer the same leisure as the river trips, zipping through the trees is worth that spine-tingling sensation of climbing up tall pine to reach the platforms, which we can assure you, are indeed secure. And, while the cottages are furnished with the very creature comforts we tend to leave behind when stepping outdoors, the folks at Adventures Unlimited have largely allowed to be the wilderness just that---wild. You’ll feel the natural sway of the pine trees on the zip line platforms, duck under fallen trees in a canoe, and navigate around and over rocks by kayak.
Perhaps it was the humble beginnings of this company, a self-described start-up that included two canoes and one 1972 Oldsmobile Cutlass, that has kept this company so grounded in the roots that helped make it great to begin with.
Who is Going to Love It
Everyone with an appreciation for the outdoors will love the excursions offered at Adventures Unlimited. The more daring will conquer the zip lines, while anyone can find enjoyment in the tranquil, shallow waters of Coldwater Creek. Animal lovers and parents won’t feel left out with both dog- and child-friendly options available for most adventures. The zip lines do enforce both a weight minimum and maximum of fliers, making it one of the more restrictive activities, but with options abound, Adventures is geared at just about anyone.
Directions, Parking, & Regulations
Rules and regulations at Adventures Unlimited are, well, limited. Simple safety guidelines, such as weight and alcohol restrictions, are enforced strictly, as is their absolute policy on no glass containers. Adventures itself is simple to find and is located just west of Munson Hwy after a turn onto Springhill Road.
Travelers will see a large sign guiding them down Tomahawk Landing Rd, where the office and cabins are located. Check in here to zip line or take a trip down the river after parking in the large, designated lot. Necessities such as water, sunscreen, and light snacks are recommended.
