Philadelphia Rock Gym - East Falls is one of three PRG locations. East Falls is the newest PRG location. It has over 15,000 square feet of climbing walls, exercise equipment, training room, and a pro shop. The staff at PRG is friendly and knowledgeable about gear, safety, and climbing techniques.
What Makes It Great
PRG East Falls has the best bouldering of any indoor climbing facility in Philadelphia. PRG East Falls is mostly a bouldering gym. The bouldering walls range from 10 to 18 feet and have angle from slab to roof. The bouldering walls are oriented in a maze like way, making it feel like an outdoor boulderfield. About half of the bouldering walls can be topped out. Bouldering grades range from V0 to V10. The rope walls are about 20 feet tall, and route Grades range from 5.0 to 5.12.
In addition to the climbing walls, PRG also offers many climbing lessons and guided trips. There is an easy top rope wall and birthday party area in the corner of the gym to keep birthday parties separate from the adult climbing area. Youth climbing is also a big part of PRG. Kids who sign up, can get coaching, compete with Team PRG in national climbing competitions, and go on guided climbing trips around the country. Adults also have the opportunity to sign up for PRG’s guided trips and compete in competitions held throughout the year at all three PRG locations.
Who is Going to Love It
Anyone can have fun at PRG East Falls. It is a great place for first timers to learn how to climb and for advanced climbers to train after work. The staff at PRG can teach you climbing and safety techniques in the form of classes and private lessons. For the kids, there are birthday parties, summer camps, and youth climbing teams. For advanced climbers, there are boulder problems up to V10, routes up to 5.12, exercise equipment, and a training room.
