Peace Valley Park



Peace Valley Park is made up of 1,500 acres, which surround the 365 acre Lake Galena. With over 14 miles of trails of easy trails, visitors can hike or walk the well groomed foot paths from the Peace Valley Nature Center into the woods nearby. Trails cross the Hardiaken and Neshaminy Creeks at bridges and rock step crossings, while visitors observe a vast variety of wildlife along the way. And visitors can also check out the paved Hike and Bike Trail which runs the circumference of Lake Galena and is perfect for hiking and biking, as the name suggests.

What Makes It Great

The Hike and Bike Trail is a 6 mile loop that is mostly flat and paved, which runs the entire circumference of Lake Galena. The trail crosses over top of the earthen dam and also includes some of Creek Road and New Galena Road. For a more subdued adventure grab a trail map at Peace Valley Nature Center and head into the woods to discover tons of wildlife and a plethora of flora and fauna. The trails run along wildflower fields, through old and new forests, wetlands, and beneath the shade and canopy of evergreens. Wildlife sightings include frogs, turtles, deer and there have been sightings of over 250 different species of birds! Just be sure to respect the Special Wildlife Area, which is off limits to visitors, but you can observe it from the Chapman Road bridge.

Be sure to check out the Peace Valley Nature Center for information wildlife in the area, and a chance to use their bathroom facilities and gift shop. They also run programs for adults and children, and events and workshops for a fun nature based learning experience.

Who is Going to Love It

Peace Valley Park offers something for just about everyone, but especially families, those looking for an easy hike in the woods, and those who prefer a paved path to run, bike, or walk your dog. The Peace Valley Nature center offers a great way to get closer to nature and fun educational opportunity and Lake Galena offers some good fishing, and you can picnic or barbecue in designated areas around the lake.

Directions, Parking, & Regulations

From PA-309N take the exit right for U.S. 202 N. After 3 miles, turn left onto PA-152N (Limekiln Pike). At the end of the road, turn right onto Butler Ave and then make your first left back onto PA-152N (N Main St). Continue following PA-152N (N Limekiln Pike) for 1.7 miles then turn right onto New Galena Road. After about 1.7 miles turn right onto Myers Road for the first parking lot.

The second parking lot is less than a mile further down New Galena Road and is the main parking lot and has bathroom facilities.
