Green Lane is a park that surrounds the Green Lane Reservoir near Schwenksville, PA. It has about 20 miles of single track trails from easy to medium difficulty. The trails here go through woods and fields, over creeks, and offer nice views along the lake. The blue and red trails are most popular.
What Makes It Great
Green Lane is the perfect mix of the expected “East Coast” rocky terrain, and beginner friendly rolling trails. Unlike most parks where the trails tend to feel the same throughout, the trails at Green Lane vary from one side of the lake to the other. The “red trail” along the northern edge of the lake is much more beginner friendly in comparison to the “blue trail” on the southern side, both with bailout options. The red trail is rolling with very few lengthy climbs, with the most difficult features being occasional roots and rocks, as well as good chances to catch your breath as you pedal through field trails.
All features are visible leading up to them allowing you to decide if they are in your comfort zone. The blue trail offers much more difficult rocky terrain with steeper pitches. Be prepared for short punchy climbs, short steep descents, that lead to the occasional creek crossing. Don’t let the occasional sections of gravel fool you as enter or exit the woods, this trail can be challenging. Be sure to keep your eyes peeled as your pedaling, it’s easy to spot fun connecting trails, deer and other animal, and of course beautiful overlooks of the lake. Incorporate the Perkiomen trail in to your ride to complete the lap around the lake, or to add many more miles.
Who is Going to Love It
