The Navy Yard Loop is the perfect run when you are looking for a quick easy run close to downtown Philadelphia. It is a 3.4 mile loop that runs around the outskirts of the the Naval Yard. In the spring through summer there are a lot restaurants and bars that are open with outdoor seating. It's a perfect place to go for a run with a bunch of friends and then grab a bite to eat once you are done your run.
What Makes It Great
Anyone looking for a easy run close to downtown Philadelphia is going to like this run, mainly because it is close to the city and the run is easy. While on the run you can look at the Delaware river and all of the ships that are docked in the navy yard. It is also cool to be able to run along the water and look at the skyline of Philadelphia.
This run is not on a trail, it is through the naval yard. You will hit some street lights and have to look for street signs while running here. It is a fun run that is pre-mapped so you don't have to worry about picking a route. I like this route a lot because the Naval Yard is an underused part of Philadelphia. It allows you to run in the city in a spot you would not normally think about running at. This loop can be completed multiple times if you need more miles and do not want to leave Philadelphia.
This area has a lot to offer in the warmer months, because the restaurants and bars have a lot of outdoor seating.
Who is Going to Love It
A runner who lives in the city or who works near the Naval Yard in Philadelphia will enjoy this loop a lot. It is the perfect loop to complete on your lunch break. This loop also is great during warmer months when the restaurants have a lot going out. This gives you the option to run and then grab a bite to eat or drink after your run.
The Navy Yard Loop is perfect for those are not as experienced in running because it is flat and short. This area of the city is also popular to people walking and riding bikes so you will not be the only one out there.
